Dear Diary,
Today was the first day of my freshman year, and it was scary. They all look so much bigger than me. I know they are only two or three years older, but they look like they are in college. It’s like I’m a little ant in a field full of ant eaters. If you’re not careful you could end up squashed on the ground. I walk along the wall in the hall just to stay out of the way from the running stampede between classes. Now lunch, that’s a different story, I stay away from the cafeteria until everyone is gone and sitting. If they see you inline they will kick you to the back and make you wait until everyone is through. I just stand at the end and stay at the end!
On a brighter note, there are so many things to do in high school. You could join the Academics team, or book club, or be on student counsel. If you are a coordinated person and like physical contact, you can try out for a sports team like football or basketball and maybe even cheerleading, I heard that gets a little rowdy. You have so much more freedom that you did in grade school. They even let you go outside during study hall! I’m just having a hard time figuring out what group I want to get involved with. Should I try out for a sports team? (Considering I have no coordination or a side of competitiveness), or should I go for something more tame, like a study group maybe, or join the book club? I’m sure I will find something, I mean after all this was only the first day out of 180 daysJ.
