Running Away
My mom would always say that running away from your problems will never solve them. I guess I never quite understood this because every time she was faced with a problem she would run away. My mom never really had a job, well unless you call it mooching off someone. She would find a guy that she pleased well enough that he would let us live under his roof and eat his food. None of these relationships lasted long and when they did end we would pack up and move to the next town. I would always ask why and get the same answer. She would say "Oh Lilly this just isn't the place for us." One day we finally came across this town called Jacksonville and that's where my mom met Jack. Although she said she loved this man little did she know what a monster he really was. Jack was a raging alcoholic that came home every night mad from work and intoxicated from the bar. I guess my mother wasn't enough for him though. It started about three weeks after we moved in. When my mom was out getting groceries or finding pleasure with someone else Jack was finding pleasure with me. I used to tell my self that he's drunk and doesn't know what he is doing. I just didn't know how to tell my mother about this. I know she wouldn't believe me. I know she said running away won't solve anything but I think that is my only choice. She will understand someday. I mean she did the same thing, right?

Holy cats, Angie. This is powerful (yet incredibly sad)! I think you need to keep working on this character. Keep writing - see where Lilly takes you.
